Every system can be viewed as a set of components interacting each other. MetaSim offers a set of classes to help the designer to build discrete event simulations:

• random variables
• statistical processing
• tracing
• debugging facilities

Users of the library are:

• system programmers or system designers, who want to simulate the behavior of the system at the desired detail level, before actually implementing it;
• researchers who want to build a model for a new component/system, reusing as much as it is possible of already existing components and writing as less code as it is possible.
